Unbeaten as a juvenile, Halfbridled looked so good in winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (USA-G1) from the far outside post, defeating future two-time champion Ashado, that she went into winter quarters being spoken of as a serious Kentucky Derby (USA-G1) contender. Unfortunately, she failed to show the same dominant form in two starts against her own sex as a 3-year-old before being retired due to injury.
Race record
6 starts, 4 wins, 2 seconds, 0 thirds, US$959,400
2003:
2004:

As an individual
A tall, rangy dark bay or brown mare with a large head, Halfbridled had a long, fluid stride. She had a history of tying up as a 3-year-old. She injured a cannon bone while in training and was officially retired in November 2004 after the injury recurred while she was preparing for a comeback.
As a producer
Halfbridled produced seven named foals of racing age, of which five started and three won. As of August 20, 2024, none of her foals have either won a stakes race or produced a stakes winner.
