The first horse to be named American Horse of the Year based on a campaign run solely on turf, All Along dominated everything she faced during her brief but brilliant American campaign in the fall of 1983. Equally devastating in her native France, she was also a two-time champion there. She was a fairly successful broodmare but more was expected given her own high class.

As an individual
A bay mare, All Along stood 16 hands. She was rather plain with a rangy build and a rather masculine head. She possessed a devastating turn of foot and was determined and courageous on the track. Her trainer, Patrick-Louis Biancone, described her as “the sweetest horse you'll ever meet in your life.” Her one weakness was her inability to handle heavy going.
As a producer
All Along produced 13 named foals, of which 10 were starters and four were winners. Her important foals are as follow:
Connections
All Along was bred and owned by Daniel Wildenstein and trained by Patrick-Louis Biancone. She was pensioned from broodmare duty in 2003 and lived out the remainder of her days at Three Chimneys Farm near Lexington, Kentucky.

In addition, she is a half sister to Addenda (by Carvin II), dam of multiple Belgian listed stakes winner Allier (by Spectacular Bid). In addition, All Along is a half sister to Wodgina (by Verbatim), second dam of multiple Australian Group 2 winner Cliff's Edge.
Agujita, the dam of All Along, won the 1969 Prix de Royaumont and is a half sister to French stakes winner Autre Prince (by Beau Prince).
