Connections

Bred by Haras Ojo de Agua,

Hnos and Ignacio Unánue. His last foals were registered in 1918.

Pedigree notes

Américo is inbred 4x5x5 to 1852 English dual Classic winner and seven-time English champion sire Stockwell, 4x5 to 1844 Derby Stakes winner and three-time English champion sire Orlando, and 5x5 to 1834 St. Leger Stakes winner and four-time English champion sire Touchstone. He is a half brother to Uruguayan stakes winner La Carabela (by Pearl River) and to La Nina, second dam of the good Brazilian stakes winner Decamps.

Américo's dam Colombia won the 1896 Gran Premio Selección (Argentine Oaks). She was produced from the English import Ambassadress (by Queen's Messenger), who failed to win but placed in several good stakes races as a juvenile. Ambassadress, in turn, was produced from Pretence, a Gladiateur half sister to 1878 Oaks Stakes winner Jannette (by Lord Clifden) out of the juvenile stakes winner Chevisaunce (by Stockwell). Jannette produced the 1890 St. James's Palace Stakes winner Janissary (by Isonomy) and, through Janissary's full sister Jane Hading, is the second dam of 1896 Polla de Potrancos winner Talma and 1899 Gran Premio National winner Valero and the third dam of 1905 Gran Premio Nacional winner Floreal.
