The last foal of 1968 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Delta, Basin failed to win or even place in a brief racing career and failed to produce any stakes winners. What she did succeed at was in producing good broodmares for several different owners, enough to allow her to establish an international branch of her dam's family.

Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Basin was bred and owned by Claiborne Farm. After going barren from her first mating in 1977, Basin was sent to the 1978 Keeneland November sale in foal to Hawaii and was purchased by Marvin Warner for US$53,000. Warner, in turn, sold her to Joan Johnson in a private transaction prior to the birth of the mare's third foal, Czaravina, and Johnson also bred Mia Karina from Basin before consigning her to the 1983 Keeneland November mixed sale, in foal to Czaravich. Basin's next owner was Chasrigg Stable, which paid US$110,000 for the mare but bred only the minor winner Magic Feet (by Czaravich) from her before sending her back to the sale ring, this time in foal to Nasty and Bold. John B. Crook bought Basin out of the 1984 Keeneland November mixed sale for US$57,000, becoming the breeder of record for the winning Nasty and Bold gelding Bold Waterway. He bred five more foals from Basin in the name of his Crook Investment Company (one in partnership with Swettenham Stud) before consigning Basin to the 1992 Keeneland January mixed sale as a barren mare. Purchased for just US$700 by Warrender Associates, Basin produced the Northern Flagship filly Her Grace in 1993, was barren for two years, and produced the Exbourne filly Exellensea as her last foal in 1996.
