Brown Berry was bred for stamina but proved a quick juvenile instead and did not train on. As a broodmare, she was something else again. Bred repeatedly to staying sires, she threw foals that reflected their sires' conformation and proclivities. While she was never honored as a Broodmare of the Year, she is one of the few mares to have produced Classic winners on both sides of the Atlantic. Unfortunately, her female family has not bred on particularly well, and her sons were not successful sires.
