American Family 4
Rated as the best American older female of 1977, Cascapedia won her title as much on the strength of two strong losing efforts against top males as on her performances within her own division. The defining moment of her campaign was in the Hollywood Gold Cup, in which the excellent handicap horse Crystal Water beat her by a neck after the filly came wide into the stretch run. She was a good broodmare, producing two graded stakes winners and two Grade 1 producers.
