Case Ace inherited much of the speed of his dam Sweetheart but may also have inherited some of the unsoundness of his broodmare sire Ultimus, as his racing career lasted only nine starts. He proved a useful stallion, getting a champion in Pavot as well as several noteworthy daughters, including 1952 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Ace Card and Raise You, dam of champion and important sire Raise a Native.

Pedigree notes
Case Ace is inbred 3x5 to 1899 English Triple Crown winner Flying Fox and to the influential English and French sire Bay Ronald. He is a full brother to multiple stakes winner Teddy Haslam and to Kiss, dam of multiple stakes winner Gabe Paul (by Sickle). He is a half brother to Warrior Lass (by Man o' War), dam of 1939 Metropolitan Handicap winner Knickerbocker (by Teddy) and second dam of 1944 Belmont Stakes winner Bounding Home, 1951 Preakness Stakes winner Bold, 1946 Pimlico Oaks winner Red Shoes and 1971 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Iberia. Warrior Lass is also the third dam of two-time American champion Riva Ridge, 1955 American co-champion 2-year-old filly Nasrina, 1970 Excelsior Handicap winner Hydrologist, 1965 Beverly Handicap winner Swoonalong and 1954 Maskette Handicap winner Ballerina.
A multiple stakes winner during her own racing days, Case Ace's dam Sweetheart also produced Appeal (by John P. Grier), dam of 1938 Gazelle Stakes winner Invoke and stakes winner The Finest, both by Teddy, and second dam of six stakes winners including 1945 Dwyer Handicap winner Wildlife and 1952 American Handicap winner Admiral Drake; Psyche (by John P. Grier), dam of 1937 Blue Grass Stakes winner Fencing (by Chance Shot); and Granheart (by Granville), dam of 1957 Toboggan Handicap winner Decimal (by Slide Rule). Herself a half sister to the minor stakes winner Tuskegee (by Black Toney), Sweetheart is out of Humanity, a mare imported to the United States in 1917 by her breeder, John Sanford, and later a foundation mare for Brownell Combs. Produced from Red Cross IV (by the top French stayer Macdonald II), Humanity is from a female line tracing back to Rouge Rose, the purported dam of the great racer and sire Bend Or (see The Mystery of Bend Or).
