In a year in which none of the top juvenile fillies won more than one Grade 1 race, Champagne Room was as consistent as any and staked her claim to a championship with a win on American racing’s biggest day winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (USA-G1) by three-quarters of a length at 33-1 odds. She was a stakes winner again at 3 but not at the top level. Following her racing career, she was sold to Japanese interests.
Race record
9 starts, 3 wins, 2 seconds, 2 thirds, US$1,490,600

As an individual
A strongly made bay mare, Champagne Room underwent surgery for an ankle chip in March of her 3-year-old season. She was retired in January 2018 due to a hairline fracture in a coffin bone.
As a producer
As of October 23, 2024, Champagne Room has produced three named foals of racing age including two winners.
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Champagne Room was bred by Respite Farm. A $310,000 purchase from the 2018 Ocala Breeders’ Sales April 2-year-olds in training sale, she was owned by Sharon Alesia, Robin Christiansen, Ciaglia Racing, Exline-Border Racing, and Gulliver Racing and was trained by Peter Eurton. She was ridden to her win in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies by Mario Gutierrez. Following her retirement from racing, she was sold privately to Japan’s Northern Farm.
Pedigree notes
Sired by Grade 2 winner Broken Vow, Champagne Room is inbred 3x5 to 1981 Metropolitan Handicap (USA-G1) winner and important sire Fappiano and 4x5 to Fappiano’s sire, two-time American champion sire Mr. Prospector. Champagne Room is also inbred 4x5 to the great international sire Northern Dancer, the 1964 Canadian Horse of the Year and American champion 3-year-old male, and 5x5 to 1968 Metropolitan Handicap winner and important sire In Reality. She is out of the winning Bernstein mare Lucky to Be Me, a half sister to multiple stakes winner Inhisglory (by Pure Prize).
Lucky to Be Me and Inhisglory are out of the unraced Pulpit mare Belle Erzulie, whose dam Fancy Freda (by Known Fact) won the 1997 Honey Bee Breeders’ Cup Handicap (USA-G3). A full sister to stakes winner She’s Got the Facts (second dam of English Group 2 winner Radiohead), Fancy Freda is out of the winning Fappiano mare Erzulie Freda, a half sister to multiple restricted stakes winner Pulling Punches (by Two Punch) and to Devil’s Sweetheart (by Devil’s Bag), second dam of Brazilian Group 3 winners Conta Cheia and Jiddah.
