Constitution did not have a long racing career but made his limited time on the track count, becoming a Grade 1 winner at ages 3 and 4. To date, he is the most accomplished sire son of Tapit, earning three sire championships in Chile and ranking among the leading sires in the United States.

A rangy bay horse, Constitution has the look of a two-turn horse with a good shoulder, strong but not bulky hindquarters, and plenty of leg and scope. His hind legs have a little more angulation than is typical for a top American dirt runner.
As a stallion
Constitution is generally considered a sire of two-turn horses. He has been criticized for passing on some of Tapit’s quirky disposition.
