As an individual
A tall, narrow dark bay or brown horse with a long stride, Cryptoclearance stood 16.1 hands. He had a good shoulder and deep girth but turned out on both forefeet. He lacked tactical speed but was known as a strong closer on the race track. He was retired during preparation for the 1990 Donn Handicap (USA-G1) after tearing a ligament. He was smart and easy to work with around the barn but could be a handful in the breeding shed.
As a stallion
According to The Jockey Club, Cryptoclearance sired 744 winners (61.0%) and 40 stakes winners (3.3%) from 1219 named foals. The Blood-Horse credits Cryptoclearance with 42 stakes winners (3.4%).
