A cornerstone of some notable successes for the breeding program of the fourth Aga Khan in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, Daltawa produced two horses that achieved honors as European Horse of the Year. One of those horses, Daylami, was a champion in the United States as well, and another son of Daltawa, the gelded Dawalan (by Azamour), was the American champion steeplechaser of 2015. Daltawa’s champion son Dalakhani was a useful stallion, and several of her daughters have become Group stakes producers.

Daltawa and her siblings are out of Damana, a stakes-placed daughter of 1977 Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby, FR-G1) winner Crystal Palace and a half sister to French listed stakes winner Dastaan (by Arctic Tern).
