A high-class miler, El Compinche improved steadily with age and as a 6-year-old was able to carry his speed through the 2000 meters (about 1¼ miles) of the Gran Premio Estrellas Classic (ARG-G1), Argentina’s counterpart to the Breeders’ Cup Classic (USA-G1). A two-time champion, he was only modestly successful as a sire although he did beget Argentine champion sprinter Medal of Honor.
