A brilliant juvenile in Argentina, El Sultan won four straight races at two, including two Group 1 events, before falling short when switched from dirt to turf and stretched out to 1600 meters (about a mile) in the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile (ARG-G1). He never showed the same dominance later but did prove capable of winning in Group 2 company over 2000 meters of dirt. He was not a success at stud.
