Generally considered the best American 2-year-old filly of 1926 after defeating her own sex in the Selima Stakes and males in the Pimlico Futurity, Fair Star failed to train on as well as could have been hoped. While she produced only one stakes winner during her broodmare career, two of her daughters bred on well, placing her at the head of one of the major branches of Etoile Filante's family.
