Glad showed little ability as a race mare but more than made up for it as a broodmare, producing two Argentine champions plus a Brazilian Group 2 winner. Her feats earned her two titles as Argentina's Broodmare of the Year. She is also the second dam of a Uruguayan champion and three Grade/Group 1 winners.

Glad produced at least five named foals. Her important foals are as follow:
  • Shadow-Mist (1970, by Decorum) is the second dam of multiple Argentine Group 3 winner Dra. Sas. She is also the third dam of 2007 Gran Premio Internacional Félix de Álzaga Unzué (ARG-G1) winner Misty Lady and multiple Argentine Group 3 winner Green Warrior. Her more distant descendants include 2003 Gran Premio Dos Mil Guineas (ARG-G1) winner Vroom Vroom, Chilean multiple Group 2 winner Doctor Si, multiple Argentine Group 2 winner Gran Peten, and 2014 Premio Invasor (ARG-G2) winner Casual Dream.
  • Gas Mask (1971, by Decorum) won the 1975 Grande Prêmio Duque de Caxias (BRZ-G2). She is the dam of 1986 Grande Prêmio Marciano de Aguiar Moreira (BRZ-G1) winner Quip Mask (by Waldmeister), 1988 Grande Prêmio Diana (Brazilian Oaks, BRZ-G1) winner Slew in Mask (by Waldmeiser), 1985 Grande Prêmio Salgado Filho (BRZ-G2) winner On the Top (by Millenium), and multiple Brazilian Group 3 winner Never Be Bad (by Earldom). Gas Mask is also the second dam of 2006 Uruguayan champion older male Necessaire.
  • I’m Glad (1978, by Liloy) is the 1981 Argentine Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old male. He sired seven stakes winners from 213 named foals of racing age, headed by multiple Peruvian Group 2 winner Black Glad.
  • Stay Happy (1979, by El Virtuoso) is the dam of 1989 Premio Ayacucho (ARG-G3) winner Stay Glad (by Farmer).
  • So Glad (1981, by Liloy) is the 1984 Argentine Mare of the Year and champion 3-year-old filly. She is the dam of 1993 Super Derby (USA-G1) winner Wallenda (by Gulch).

Glad was bred by Haras Upper Cut. As a broodmare, she was owned by Haras Santa Maria de Araras.



Pedigree notes

Sired by the stakes-winning Persian Gulf horse Idle Hour (the Argentine champion sire of 1972), Glad is inbred 5x4 to Pharos, the English/Irish champion sire of 1931 and the French champion sire of 1939. She is one of seven important broodmares produced from 1960 Premio
Maipú winner Good Star (by 1949 Middle Park Stakes winner Masked Light), a high-class sprinter who also won the 1959 Premio Venezuela.

Produced from 1950 Premio Enrique Acebal winner Bambuca (by Rustom Pasha). Good Star is a half sister to multiple stakes winner Gamin (1960, by Tatán) and to Miss Venecia (by Luxemburgo), dam of 1985 Gran Premio General San Martín (ARG-G1) winner Mister Marco (by Go Forth), 1985 Premio Abril (ARG-G2) winner Miss Bimba (by Our Talisman), and Argentine stakes winners Mair (by Mantecon) and Mi Estandarte (by Decorum); second dam of Argentine Group 3 winner and 2000 Argentine Broodmare of the Year Miss Peggy; and third dam of 2000 Argentine Mare of the Year Miss Linda, 2003 Argentine champion miler Mr. Nancho, 2019 Gran Premio de Honor (ARG-G1) Wild Stream, and Argentine Group 2 winner Miss Mary.
