Although she was outfinished by My Flag and Cara Rafaela in the 1995 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (USA-G1), three Grade 1 wins earlier in the season were enough to give Golden Attraction an Eclipse Award as America’s champion juvenile filly. Physical issues kept her away from the races until August of the following year, and she made only three starts as a 3-year-old, though she did add a Grade 2 win to her record. Although she produced two stakes winners, she was a rather disappointing broodmare given her racing talent, pedigree, and opportunities.

As an individual
A muscular, short-coupled, well-made dark bay mare with a deep girth, Golden Attraction was feminine and attractive although her ears were a bit long. She preferred to run on or near the lead but was game and determined when hooked. A mile and one-sixteenth was probably a little long for her, but she could win at that distance on class.

Foaled in Kentucky, Golden Attraction was bred and owned by William Young’s Overbrook Farm. She was trained by D. Wayne Lukas and was ridden to all of her Grade 1 wins by Gary Stevens. She remained in the ownership of Overbrook Farm until its dispersal in 2009, when she sold to Kelley Farms Racing for US$340,000, covered by Oasis Dream, at the Keeneland November mixed sale. She proved barren to her cover by Oasis Dream and in 2011 produced the English Channel colt Vigorish, listed as bred by Bluegrass Hall. Her final foal was the 2012 English Channel filly Return to Grace, also bred by Bluegrass Hall, and her final entries in the produce records show her as barren in 2013 and 2014.
