Storm Cat (USA) x Island Kitty (USA), by Hawaii (SAF)
Family 8-c
Like his sire, Hennessy was just short of championship class at 2 but did not go on at 3. Forced into retirement by injury without having started as a sophomore, he had a rather uneven stud career at Ashford Stud before dying relatively young but established a branch of Storm Cat's male line that leads to American Triple Crown winner Justify, two-time American Horse of the Year Wise Dan, and four-time American champion Beholder.
Race record
9 starts, 4 wins, 3 seconds, 0 thirds, US$580,400
1995:
As an individual
A chestnut, Hennessy stood 16 hands. He was a muscular individual with an exceptional hip and hind leg who could be faulted for a long, rather weakly constructed back. He is said to have had a reasonably sensible temperament while at stud.
As a stallion
According to statistics compiled by The Jockey Club, Hennessy sired 799 winners (57.0%) and 72 stakes winners (5.1%) from 1401 named foals. The Blood-Horse credits Hennessy with 73 stakes winners.

Wayne Lukas. He entered stud in Kentucky 1997 at Ashford Stud and stood the Northern Hemisphere seasons there throughout his life except in 2001, when he stood at East Stud in Japan on a one-year lease. He shuttled to Coolmore's Australian division for the Southern Hemisphere season during the first three years of his breeding career and was sent to Haras La Mission in Argentina for the 2007 Southern Hemisphere season. He died of an apparent heart attack immediately after breeding a mare on August 9, 2007.
