Holiday was not a notable racer and is remembered solely for his front-running win in the 1914 Preakness Stakes. As a gelding, he had no opportunity to make a name for himself as a sire.
Race record
Holiday's complete race record and earnings are unavailable. According to Clio Hogan's Index to Stakes Winners 1865-1967, the Preakness was the only stakes win of Holiday's career.

As an individual
A bay, Holiday was attractive but on the small side.
Connections
Holiday was bred by Harry Payne Whitney. At the time of his Preakness victory, he was owned by Mrs. A. Barklie and trained by J. Simon Healey.
Pedigree notes
Holiday is inbred 4x4 to St. Editha, 5x4 to the important 19th-century sire Australian, and 5x5 to four-time leading American sire Leamington and 1863 Derby Stakes winner Macaroni. He is a half brother to Royal Tourist (by Sandringham), the 1908 Preakness winner. Holiday's dam Leisure is a half sister to three stakes winners and to Repute (by Hamburg), whose daughter Bubble (by All Gold) produced four stakes winners including 1928 Alabama Stakes winner Nixie (by Peter Pan). The second dam of Holiday, Yorkville Belle (by Miser), is considered the co-champion American 3-year-old filly of 1892 with Yo Tambien and is a half sister to Dobbins (by Mr. Pickwick), second only to Domino among American 2-year-old males of 1893. Yorkville Belle is also a half sister to stakes winner Sir Francis (by Mr. Pickwick) and is out of 1881 American champion 3-year-old filly Thora (by Longfellow).
Books and media
Holiday is profiled in Chapter 4 of Avalyn Hunter's American Classic Pedigrees 1914-2002 (2003, Eclipse Press).

Fun facts
- Holiday is the second of six Preakness winners bred by Harry Payne Whitney. The others were Royal Tourist (1908), Buskin (1913), Broomspun (1921), Bostonian (1927) and Victorian (1928).
- Holiday was the last gelding to win the Preakness until Prairie Bayou accomplished the feat in 1992.
- Leisure is one of only two mares to produce two winners of the same American Triple Crown race. The other is Better Than Honour, who produced the Belmont Stakes (USA-G1) winners Jazil (2006) and Rags to Riches (2007).
