Family 16-a
Honour and Glory was one of the better American juveniles of 1995 but appeared not to stay much if any beyond a mile when tried over 9 furlongs in the Santa Anita Derby (USA-G1). Sacrificed as a rabbit for D. Wayne Lukas’ five-horse Kentucky Derby (USA-G1) entry in 1996, Honour and Glory finished 18th but bounced back to take the biggest win of his career in the Metropolitan Handicap (USA-G1) against older males a little more than three weeks later, setting a stakes record into the bargain. After winning the American freshman and juvenile sire titles in 2000, he had an inconsistent stud career in the United States and Argentina but got a successor at stud in Put It Back, a two-time champion sire in Brazil.
Race record
17 starts, 6 wins, 5 seconds, 1 third, US$1,202,942

Assessments
Rated at 121 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap for American juvenile males of 1995, 5 pounds below co-highweights Maria’s Mon (the official divisional champion) and Unbridled’s Song, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (USA-G1).
As an individual
A handsome dark bay or brown horse standing 16.1 hands, Honour and Glory was powerful, well-balanced, and muscular with a good shoulder. He had natural speed and preferred to control his races from the front end. Although he was retired in physically sound condition, he appeared to lose interest in racing toward the end of his 3-year-old season.
As a stallion
Primarily an influence for speed and precocity, Honour and Glory sired 1384 winners (50.1%) and 73 stakes winners (2.7%) from 2733 named foals of racing age according to records maintained by The Jockey Club.

Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Honour and Glory was bred by Overbrook Farm. A US$410,000 purchase from the 1995 Barretts March sale of 2-year-olds in training, he was owned by Coolmore associate Michael Tabor. He was trained by D. Wayne Lukas. He entered stud in 1997 at Coolmore’s Kentucky facility, Ashford Stud. He initially shuttled to Coolmore Australia but was purchased by La Mesa Stallion Station in June 2006 for Southern Hemisphere duty in Argentina. Following his sale, he shuttled for the Northern Hemisphere season to Wintergreen Stallion Station, Kentucky, in 2007-2009 and to Ghost Ridge Farm, Pennsylvania, in 2010. In 2013, Honour and Glory transferred to Haras Rapetti, Uruguay, where he was euthanized in July 2018 due to a broken femur.
