Only an allowance-level winner as a racer, Iberia lived up to the best of her family as a broodmare, producing three stakes winners including a two-time champion. Her record earned her honors as the Kentucky Broodmare of the Year for 1971. Her family persists through her daughter Barranca but has not bred on as well as might have been hoped.

Foaled in Maryland, Iberia was bred by L. S. McPhail, who sold her for US$15,000 at the 1955 Saratoga yearling sales. She produced all her foals for Christopher Chenery's Meadow Stud, which passed to Chenery's daughter Penny Tweedy at his death. Iberia died of an internal hemorrhage in December 1975. She was in foal to Tinajero at the time of her death.
