Arguably the best runner sired by John P. Grier, Jack High may not have possessed quite the raw speed of John P. Grier's other Hopeful Stakes winner, Boojum, but was much sounder and was a first-rate miler. He was a useful sire but was unable to continue the male line as his best son, Lucky Draw, was a gelding. His primary influence on American bloodlines has been through his daughter Flota, whose son Sailor was among the leading handicap horses of 1956 and proved a useful stallion in his own right.

Pedigree notes
Jack High is inbred 5x6x5 to Himyar and Mannie Gray through the full brother and sister Domino and Correction and 5x5 to two-time American champion Hindoo. He is a full brother to 1931 Demoiselle Stakes winner Straightlace, dam of the minor stakes winner Quakertown (by Jamestown). He is also a half brother to Mervinia (by Wrack), dam of stakes winner Far Cry (by Canter), and to St. Prisca (by St. James), dam of stakes winner Harp Weaver (by Challenger II).
Jack High's dam Priscilla is a half sister to 1915 Brooklyn Handicap winner Tartar (by Ogden). She was produced from the Yankee mare Yankee Sister, whose dam Sister Cheerful (by Petrarch) also produced multiple stakes winner Mirthful (by Hagioscope). The next dam in Jack High's tail-female line, The Nun (by Bacchus), is out of Chanoinesse, a full sister to 1867 Derby Stakes winner and seven-time English champion sire Hermit and a notable foundation mare.
