Although he was sired by a Derby Stakes winner out of a mare by a St. Leger Stakes winner, Jacopo showed a fair amount of the brilliance associated with his second dam's sire, Sundridge, and was a champion at 2. He trained on well enough to be a stakes winner at 1½ miles at 4 but was something of a hard-luck horse after his juvenile season. He sired plenty of winners in the United States but few of significant class and was better known as a sire of broodmares.
