Knight's Daughter was bred for speed on both sides of her pedigree and showed it. Although she did not win a race classified as a stakes in more modern times, she was impressive enough during her juvenile campaign to earn a rating of 117 pounds on England's Free Handicap for juveniles. As a broodmare, she passed on her heritage of speed with such success that she was named the 1959 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year, but she also passed on unsoundness that has shown up repeatedly in her descendants.
