Pedigree notes

La Baraca and her siblings were produced from La Bambuca, one of seven important broodmares produced from 1960 Premio Maipú winner Good Star (by 1949 Middle Park Stakes winner Masked Light), a high-class sprinter who also won the 1959 Premio Venezuela. Among La Bambuca’s half sisters are 1964 Premio Enrique Acebal and Premio Eliseo Ramírez winner Venturanza (by Seductor), 1967 Premio Saturnino J.

Sired by Rustom Pasha from the stakes-winning Congreve mare Bimba, Bambuca is also a half sister to Bunting (by Seductor), third dam of Argentine Group 2 winner Unruly and Brazilian Group 3 winner Lord Bob.

Fun facts
  • “Baraca” means “good luck” or “good fortune” in Spanish.
  • A pure sprinter, La Baraca raced only once beyond 1000 meters (about 5 furlongs), a 1400-meter allowance event and finished fifth in that race.
