​In a brief, brilliant career, La Esperanza displayed the speed for which her family is known, winning honors as Argentine champion sprinter and Mare of the Year in 1990. She was not nearly as outstanding as a broodmare as she was as a racer, though she does have a Group 3 winner to her credit.

She is a full sister to Argentine stakes winner Good Luck, dam of 1984 Premio Japon (ARG-G3) winner Good Boy (by Liloy) and third dam of 2007 Uruguayan Horse of the Year Good Report, winner of the 2007 Gran Premio Latinoamericano (ARG-G1). La Feona is a half sister to 1964 Premio Enrique Acebal and Premio Eliseo Ramírez winner Venturanza (by Seductor), third dam of Grade/Group 3 winners Triple Wow and Zilzal Zamaan, and to stakes winner Daystar II (by Seductor), second dam of multiple Grade 2 winner Dance Floor. She is also a half sister to two-time Argentine Broodmare of the Year Glad (by Idle Hour), dam of 1981 Argentine Horse of the Year I’m Glad and 1984 Argentine Mare of the year So Glad (both by Liloy), and to Chance (by Sideral), dam of multiple Argentine Group 2 winner Taranta (by Tan Pronto and third dam of 2007 Scandinavian champion sprinter Maxim’s. She is also a half sister to Miss Venecia (by Luxemburgo), dam of 1985 Gran Premio General San Martín (ARG-G1) winner Mister Marco (by Go Forth), 1985 Premio Abril (ARG-G2) winner Miss Bimba (by Our Talisman), and Argentine stakes winners Mair (by Mantecon) and Mi Estandarte (by Decorum); second dam of Argentine Group 3 winner and 2000 Argentine Broodmare of the Year Miss Peggy; and third dam of 2000 Argentine Mare of the Year Miss Linda, 2003 Argentine champion miler Mr. Nancho, 2019 Gran Premio de Honor (ARG-G1) Wild Stream, and Argentine Group 2 winner Miss Mary.

Good Star, in turn, is out of 1959 Premio Gilberto Lerena winner Bambuca, whose full sister Begum II is the dam of 1953 Frizette Stakes winner Indian Legend (by Ardan). Produced from Premio Olavarria winner Bimba (by Congreve), Bambuca is a half sister to Bunting (by Seductor), third dam of Argentine Group 2 winner Unruly and Brazilian Group 3 winner Lord Bob.


Fun facts
  • Raúl Lotterio’s Haras La Esperanza, an offshoot of Haras Vacación, was named for the champion. The producer of Group 1 winners Ejecutor, Fiesta Lady, Ídolo Porteño, Ondina Dubai, and Special Dubai, among other fine horses, it closed its breeding operations in December 2025.
