A multiple champion in his native Chile and a winner of Hipódromo Chile’s Triple Crown series for dirt runners, Lido Palace was a first-rate racehorse in the United States as well, winning three Grade 1 races and ranking among the best American-based older males of 2001 and 2002. He remained in the United States to stand at stud but in retrospect might have done better had he returned to his native land, as he did not receive opportunities commensurate with his racing class and was eventually exported to Peru. He was equally unsuccessful following his export.

Connections
Lido Palace was bred by Haras Figuron. In the United States, he was owned by John and Jerry Amerman’s Amerman Racing Stables and was trained by Bobby Frankel. He entered stud in 2004 in Florida at Lambholm South, moving to Northview Stallion Station in Pennsylvania for 2009. Following the 2011 Northern Hemisphere season, Lido Palace was sent to Andrés Bezzola’s Haras El Centauro in Peru, where he died in July 2020.
Pedigree notes
Lido Palace is outcrossed through five generations. He is a half brother to two-time Chilean champion Cremcaramel (by Roy), dam of Chilean listed winner Cremroyal (by Hussonet) and third dam of 2020 Premio Dos Mil Guineas (CHI-G1) winner Jamon Serrano.
Lido Palace is out of the winner Soñada, whose sire Quick Decision is a Grade 3-placed son of the brilliant Argentine runner Pronto. Soñada was produced from 1979 Premio Cotejo de Potrancas (CHI-G3) winner Siempre Arriba (by Argentine stakes winner Scelto), a full sister to 1973 Premio Alberto Vial Infante (CHI-G2) winner Siempre Tuyo and to Siempre Mia, dam of Chilean stakes winner El Almanecer (by Petrarque II). Siempre Arriba is also a half sister to Cimarrera (by Clasico), dam of Chilean listed stakes winner La Cimarra (by Northair); second dam of multiple Chilean Group 1 winner El Farrero, and 2014/2015 Chilean champion 2-year-old turf filly Cimalta, and Chilean Group 3 winner Bauxita; and third dam of 2017/2018 Chilean champion 2-year-old turf male El Picaro (renamed Hongkong Great after export to Singapore), 2019 Premio Dos Mil Guineas (CHI-G1) winner Tokerau, and Peruvian Group 3 winner Cruella Deville.
Siempre Arriba and her sisters are out of Siempre Linda, by the Sicambre horse Sertorius out of Moina, by multiple Chilean stakes winner Dichato. The next dam in Lido Palace’s tail-female line is Noche de Ronda, by English stakes winner Trelawney (by Son-in-Law) out of Argentine-bred Rondinella (by the Diamond Jubilee horse Moloch, one of the best Argentine horses of his day).
