The best Brazilian 3-year-old filly of her year, Mamma Rosita was sent to the United States in an attempt to gain further honors but did not adapt to North American racing as well as hoped. She was sent back to Brazil for broodmare duty and produced a Group 2 winner in her native country, but to date her daughters have not bred on well.

Mamma Rosita produced nine named foals; seven started and six won. Her only important foal is My Tie (by Black Tie Affair), winner of the 1998 Grande Premio Joao Cecelio Ferraz (BRZ-G2).
Connections
Mamma Rosita was bred and owned by Haras San Francesco. In the United Stakes, she was trained by Ron McAnally. She returned to Brazil in 1995, in foal to Black Tie Affair. Her last foal, the Linngari filly My Life, was foaled in October 2010.
Pedigree notes
Sired by two-time Italian champion Mannsfeld, Mamma Rosita is outcrossed through five generations. She is a half sister to stakes-placed Liz Alba (by Midnight Tiger), dam of 2010 Grande Premio Gervasio Seabra (BRZ-G2) winner Scottish Boy (by Dodge). She is also a half sister to Guilia Gam (by Vacilacion), second dam of multiple Brazilian Group 2 winner Another Xhow.
Love Angel, the dam of Mamma Rosita, never raced but is a half sister to Brazilian stakes winner Boy One (by Flying Boy). Sired by 1972 Gulfstream Park Handicap and Metropolitan Handicap winner Executioner, a champion sire in Brazil, Love Angel was produced from the Argentine import Viviana, whose sire Vitelio won Argentina’s top sprint, the Premio Maipú, in 1957 and led the Argentine general sire list in 1965.
Viviana was produced from Marshmallow (by Babu’s Pet), whose full sister Mahores is the third dam of Argentine Group 3 winner Es Potriso. The next dam in Mamma Rosita’s tail-female line, Milk Punch (by 1942 Dewhurst Stakes winner Umiddad) is out of Mahee, a Fairway half sister to 1936 Derby Stakes winner and 1946 American champion sire Mahmoud (by Blenheim II).
Mamma Rosita’s female line traces back to Spitfire, a daughter of 1794 St. Leger Stakes winner Beningbrough foaled in 1800. Beyond that, the lineage is uncertain, for although Spitfire’s dam, a daughter of Young Sir Peter, was originally said to be out of a daughter of Engineer whose tail-female line traces back to the foundation mare of Family 9-c, the Crab mare, later editions of the General Stud Book indicate that the pedigree of Spitfire’s dam was fabricated.
