Only one man has trained three Triple Crown winners in North America. Who is he, and who were the horses with whom he accomplished the feat?

" Sunny" Jim Fitzsimmons trained Triple Crown Winners Omaha and Gallant Fox when they won. I know he trained the great Bold Ruler who else I am curious ? There must be another who he trained before or after another trainer took over. I have made picture pedigrees for all the Triple Crown winners www.picturepedigee.com or look on ebay for good deals under picturepedigree. I have Secretariat on at the moment.

I was wondering who else Mr. Fitz could have been involved with, than read the question over and saw "North America" and it was easy from there:>) It is an interesting event run at the same distances as the US TC series, but over three different surfaces...Tapeta, Dirt and Turf. Pretty versatile horses!

Yes Marlane....a trick question indeed. Certainly not a first for Avalyn as she does keep us on our toes:>) The wording of the question is important since our tendency, when we hear Triple Crown is to think American TC and most likely a colt or gelding. Avalyn makes us understand it doesn't start and stop in the USA with the TC or horse racing in general:>) Back on 10/7/16 Avalyn's question was:

I can see that you are quite the enthusiast to know the answers and I am realizing that Avalyn does indeed not make it straight forward to answer the questions. Did you know that I am a researcher and pedigree maker especially for TB's. I have made over 200 pedigrees over the years. Some are on ebay at the moment picturepedigree. I have made pedigrees for all the USA Triple Crown winners.

Not just an enthusiast....I was there for many of them:>) Through the years I've been around some great owners, trainers and racehorses. Though I prefer to stay anonymous online....but at this point, it's fun checking in with the trivia challenge to keep the memory from freezing up. Avalyn's overall racing expertise and thoughtful and sometimes "tricky" questions are very helpful in that regard:>) Avalyn's mind workouts limit my ginkoba intake:>) That is wonderful to be associated with horse racing in that way. I also have many memories from my own past In England from the 1970's so the ginko biloba applies to me too. I was a "lad" for two NH Trainers and as you probably know that means doing everything with the horses including being an exercise rider. I was the first lad for one particular trainer and rode a colt for him who had American breeding.Tom Fool on the top line and Count Fleet on the bottom. I did not know the significance of this at the time. When I moved to the USA I became interested in not just UK horses but USA and Canadian ( the great Northern Dancer) I have been a pedigree historian and researcher for many years. At the moment I have among several horses a TB who has several crosses of Northern Dancer. He was a rescue with a bowed tendon. I try to cover the expenses with my pedigree sales. I find Avalyns quizzes most interesting !!
