The only stakes winner by a sire who won only one race and out of a dam who failed to place in her only start, this rags-to-riches hero was trampled by another horse as a foal, changed hands twice for less than US$3,000, and ran in claiming races for tags as low as US$1,500 before becoming a champion. Name him.

Market Wise? I've always had a soft spot for Broker's Tip. He had his share of problems.

Yes, it is Market Wise, an uncommonly good stayer in spite of the fact that he (like his sire) was never entirely sound.

Market Wise is still commonly found in pedigrees in Australia where he features as the sire of the Arlington Futurity winner To Market, the damsire of Champion Australian Sire in 1990-91, 1992-93, Champion Aust. Sire of 2YOs in 1992-93. Champion Aust. Broodmare Sire in 1998-99, 2000-01, 2003-04, 2004-05. To Market via Marscay, was a great source of alternate Queen Mary (No.10) lines in Australasia due to his duplication of Queen Mary's granddaughter Bonnie Gal, granddam of Black Toney and dam of the Domino stallion and trans-Atlantic traveler Disguise on To Market's damline.
