Misty Mission (CAN)

May 27, 1997 – c. 2015

Miswaki (USA) x Hangin on a Star (CAN), by Vice Regent (CAN)

Family 14-b

Misty Mission had a short but promising racing career. After breaking her maiden in her second outing, she took aim at the third leg of Canada’s Triple Tiara series for 3-year-old fillies, the 2000 Wonder Where Stakes (CAN-R). She scored a clear victory over stablemate Catch the Ring, winner of the previous two races in the Triple Tiara and that year’s Sovereign Award winner in the 3-year-old filly division. Misty Mission did not race again, but she earned a Sovereign Award of her own as Canadian Broodmare of the Year in 2012 based on the exploits of her daughter, two-time Canadian champion Irish Mission. Misty Mission’s long-term influence remains to be seen.

  • French Beret (2003, by Broad Brush; a gelding) won the 2008 and 2009 editions of the Colonel E. R. Bradley Handicap (USA-G3).
  • Irish Mission (2009, by Giant’s Causeway) was the Canadian champion 3-year-old filly and champion turf female of 2012.
  • Smart Mission (2013, by Smart Strike) won both her starts. She is the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Mission of Joy (by Kitten’s Joy), whose biggest win was in the 2025 Rodeo Drive Stakes (USA-G2).
  • Mythical Mission (2014, by Giant’s Causeway) won the 2018 West Virginia Senate President’s Cup Stakes and placed in all three races of the 2017 Canadian Triple Tiara series.

She was owned by Sam-Son Farm throughout her broodmare career. Her last foal, the Medaglia d’Oro mare Dark Mission, was foaled in 2015.
