February 22, 1978 – December 17, 2004
Mr. Prospector (USA) x Hopespringseternal (USA), by Buckpasser (USA)
Family 16-g
A Group 1 winning-juvenile in France, Miswaki did not show quite the same form in the United States as a 3-year-old. In keeping with his fine pedigree, however, he proved to be one of Mr. Prospector's better sons at stud and was particularly noted as a broodmare sire. His best son, 1991 American Horse of the Year Black Tie Affair, was unable to continue his male line, but Miswaki will have an honored place in pedigrees for a long time to come as the sire of the great broodmare Urban Sea, whose son Galileo was the most dominant European stallion of the early 21st century.
Race record

Rated at 119 pounds on the Daily Racing Form's Free Handicap for American sprinters of 1981, 9 pounds below co-highweights Guilty Conscience (the official champion) and Dave's Friend.
As an individual
A well-made chestnut horse standing 15.3 hands, Miswaki was lengthy and somewhat short-legged for his height with a deep girth and powerful hindquarters. His pasterns were rather short and upright.
As a stallion
According to records maintained by The Jockey Club, Miswaki sired 717 winners (60.3%) and 94 stakes winners (7.9%) from 1189 named foals. The Blood-Horse credits Miswaki with 101 stakes winners (8.5%).
