An older half sister to 1978 American co-champion 2-year-old filly It’s in the Air, Morning Has Broken showed none of her sibling’s talent in two unplaced starts. She also failed to emulate her sister in producing stakes winners, and the overall merits of her foals as racers can be extrapolated from her US$16,000 price tag as a 16-year-old broodmare at the 1990 Keeneland November mixed sale. Since then, her daughters have provided her with redemption, making her the second, third, and fourth dam of European Classic winners as well as others of merit.
