Musical Romance was bred to be a useful Florida-bred runner, but she achieved far more than that on the track. After being dropped back in distance to be focused on sprints, she became a two-time Grade 1 winner, she was voted an Eclipse Award as America’s champion female sprinter in 2011. So far, she has not been nearly as successful as a producer as she was as a racer.

Connections
Foaled in Florida, Musical Romance was bred by Ocala Stud. A US$22,000 purchase from the OBS April sale of 2-year-olds in training, she was owned by Bill Kaplan and Pinnacle Racing Stable (managing partner Adam Lazarus). She was trained by Bill Kaplan and was ridden to her Breeders’ Cup win by Juan Leyva. In 2012, she was purchased for US$1.6 million from the Fasig-Tipton "Night of the Stars" by Katsumi Yoshida and sent to the Yoshida family's Shadai Stallion Station in Japan.
