A “niece” to a Canadian champion (Victoria Park) and a “cousin” to another (Viceregal), Northern Blossom was not quite as talented as either but still lived up to her heritage by becoming a Canadian champion in her own right. She was fairly successful as a broodmare.

Foaled in Ontario, Northern Blossom was bred by E. P. Taylor. A CAN$77,000 yearling at the 1981 Ontario September sale, she was owned by Bahnam Yousif's B K Y Stable and was trained by Gil Rountree. Following her racing career, she was acquired by Kinderhill Corporation (later Kinderhill Select Bloodstock), which bred her first foal in partnership with Walmac International and her third in partnership wit Peter Brant. In 1991, then in foal to Miswaki, she sold for US$140,000 at the Keeneland November sale. She was then sent to England, where she bred her final three foals as the property of Newgate Stud.

She is a half sister to Elegant Victress (by Sir Ivor), dam of Grade 2 winner Explicit (by Distant View), Grade 3 winner Flying Victor (by Flying Paster), listed stakes winner Vying Victor (by Flying Paster), and restricted stakes winner Sharp Victor (by Sharpen Up). Elegant Victress is also the second dam of Grade 2 winner Desert Digger.
