Although Pamplona II was a champion in her native Peru, little was known about how her form or bloodlines might transfer outside South America when Nelson Bunker Hunt purchased her for his broodmare band. Pampered Miss proved her dam’s worth in no uncertain fashion when she took down a French Classic during her 3-year-old season. She was a disappointing broodmare given her own racing merit but has a couple of outstanding descendants.

As an individual
A chestnut mare, Pampered Miss was capable of an electric burst of speed but did not stay beyond a mile.
As a producer
Pampered Miss produced seven named foals, of which four started and two won. Her most important foal is Noble Society (by Vaguely Noble), second dam of 1994 Hungarian champion 2-year-old filly Delia’s Flower and 2004 Premio Ricardo Ortiz de Zevallos (PER-G1) winner Sinjon.
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Pampered Miss was bred and owned by Nelson Bunker Hunt. She was trained by John Cunnington Jr. and was ridden to her Classic success by Maurice Philipperon. She produced her last foal, the Master Derby colt Masterchange, in 1982.
Pedigree notes
Sired by Sadair (generally considered the second-best American juvenile of 1964), Pampered Miss is outcrossed through five generations. She is a half sister to 1976 Derby Stakes (ENG-G1) winner Empery (by Vaguely Noble). She is also a half sister to stakes winner Sports Event (by T. V. Lark), dam of multiple Grade 3 winner Vagabonda (by Noholme II), French Group 3 winner Proud Event (by Proud Clarion), and stakes winner Anono (by Noholme II). In addition, Pampered Miss is a half sister to stakes winner Anglo Peruvian (by My Babu), dam of multiple stakes winners Air Peruvian (by Sadair) and Miss Arellano (by Sadair).
Pamplona II, the dam of Pampered Miss, won the Quadruple Crown in her native Peru. A full sister to Peruvian stakes winner and three-time Peruvian champion sire Parrot, she was produced from the useful handicapper Society’s Way (by Kingsway). Sociey’s Way, in turn, was produced from unraced Society’s Vote (by the good English juvenile Wyndham, by Blenheim II), whose dam Conversation Piece (by 1933 Yorkshire Gold Cup winner Orpen) won the 1938 Irish Oaks.
