A tough, hardy mare, Paradisical was probably the best runner sired by 1923 American co-champion 3-year-old male In Memoriam. The best entire son of McGee (also the sire of the great gelding Exterminator), In Memoriam failed to carry on the male line and did not distinguish himself as a broodmare sire either, a failing that extended to Paradisical as she was not a particularly successful broodmare.

As an individual
A small bay mare, Paradisical was tough and sound. She could run well on both fast and off tracks.
As a producer
Paradisical produced eight foals, all of which started and won. Her only foal of any significance was Aridisical (by Ariel), a minor stakes winner as a juvenile.
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Paradisical was bred and owned by Wood F. Axton. Axton's estate was dispersed in early May 1935, and Paradisical was sold to Isaac Jacob Collins prior to her victory in the Kentucky Oaks. She was ridden to her Kentucky Oaks score by Glen Fowler. While owned by Collins, she was trained by Albert Miller. Her last foal, the Triplicate gelding Paracate, was foaled in 1952.
Pedigree notes
Paradisical is inbred 4x5 to seven-time English champion sire Hermit and nine-time English champion sire St. Simon. She is a full sister to stakes-placed Memorandum, dam of 1944 New Castle Handicap winner Everget (by Snark), second dam of 1951 Astarita Stakes winner Place Card and 1955 Mayflower Stakes winner Countermand and third dam of 1961 Californian Stakes winner First Balcony, 1968 New Orleans Handicap winner Urgent Message and 1961 New England Futurity winner Royale Rube.
Paradisical and Memorandum are out of Madrigal, a daughter of 1906 Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) winner Maintenon. Madrigal's dam Meddlesome II (by Meddler) was imported to the United States in 1921 by A. K. Macomber and is out of Heartache (by the St. Simon horse Adieu). The next dam in Paradisical's tail-female line, Lady Emily II, was sired by 1869 St. Leger Stakes winner Pero Gomez out of Valtz, a daughter of the great racer Voltigeur.
Books and media
Paradisical is profiled in Chapter 6 of Avalyn Hunter's American Classic Pedigrees 1914-2002 (2003, Eclipse Press).
Fun facts
Paradisical's Kentucky Oaks win was her fourth straight victory at the 19-day 1935 Churchill Downs spring meeting.
