Foaled in Kentucky while her dam was in the United States to visit Kingmambo, Peeping Fawn went to Europe to race under the care of champion trainer Aidan O’Brien. The decision proved a good one as she became a Classic winner and champion during a hard campaign that packed ten starts into four months. She has had some success as a broodmare but not on the same level as her racing career.
Race record
10 starts, 5 wins, 2 seconds, 3 thirds, US$1,329,109 (includes converted earnings from England and Ireland)

Assessments
Peeping Fawn was rated at 122 pounds in the Intermediate and Long categories on the 2007 World’s Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings, 9 pounds below overall highweight Manduro (a multiple highweight in England and France) and 2 pounds below the highest-rated filly or mare, American champion 3-year-old filly Rags to Riches.
As an individual
A good-sized bay filly, Peeping Fawn did not race at 2 and took four starts to break her maiden. She showed markedly improved form as the season progressed and won her last four races in succession. She was effective over going rated from good to soft. She was retired after sustaining an injury in training in June 2008 which failed to respond to treatment.
As a producer
As of January 13, 2024, Peeping Fawn is the dam of nine named foals of racing age, of which seven have started and five have won. Her important foals are as follow:
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Peeping Fawn was bred by Barnett Enterprises (a Coolmore breeding operation) and was owned by Coolmore associates Susan Magnier (Mrs. John Magnier) and Michael Tabor. She was trained by Aidan O’Brien and was ridden to her Irish Oaks triumph by Johnny Murtagh. She produced her first foal in the name of the Peeping Fawn Syndicate and has been in the Coolmore broodmare band throughout the rest of her breeding career, with some of her foals having been bred in the name of Coolmore’s Orpendale operation.
Pedigree notes
Peeping Fawn is inbred 3x3 to the breed-shaping sire Northern Dancer, 4x4x4 to Northern Dancer’s dam Natalma, and 5x5 to the excellent sire Alibhai. She is a half sister to 2007 Criterium International (FR-G1) winner Thewayyouare (by Kingmambo).
Maryinsky, the dam of Peeping Fawn, ran second in the 2001 Fillies’ Mile Stakes (ENG-G1). She is a full sister to Butterfly Blue, the second dam of Grade 3 winner America and multiple French Group 3 winner Ecrivain and the third dam of 2020 Coaching Club American Oaks (USA-G1) winner Paris Lights and multiple Grade 3 winner First Captain. Produced from 1982 Kentucky Oaks (USA-G1) winner Blush With Pride (Blushing Groom x Best in Show, by Traffic Judge), Maryinsky is a half sister to 2007 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour (by Deputy Minister); to French Group 2 winner Smolensk (by Danzig), dam of Grade 3 winner Can the Man (by Into Mischief) and listed stakes winner Martha’s Moon (by Malibu Moon); and to Irish Group 3 winner Turnberry Isle (by Deputy Minister).
