Her gifts were reserved for the breeding shed, where she produced three stakes winners, including champion Vanlandingham. While Vanlandingham failed at stud, four of Populi’s daughters bred on.

Bred in Kentucky by Dr. Albert F. Polk, Jr., Populi was a US$38,000 yearling at the 1976 Keeneland July sale. She was owned by Loblolly Stable (John Ed Anthony). She was sold to James Delahooke as agent for Khalid Abdullah (Juddmonte Farms) for US$2,000,000 at the 1983 Keeneland November mixed sale when in foal to Northern Dancer. She remained at Juddmonte throughout the rest of her broodmare career and was humanely destroyed September 25, 2006, due to the infirmities of old age.
