A champion and winner of two-thirds of his country's Triple Crown in his native Argentina, Practicante won turf races later classed as Grade 1 events in the United States. He proved an excellent sire and broodmare sire in his native country, keeping the male line of Thoroughbred foundation sire Herod alive for another generation.

An elegantly made, well-balanced, masculine bay horse standing 16.2 hands, Practicante had an excellent shoulder, a muscular body, and strong hindquarters but was flawed by pigeon toes. His stride was long and he had an explosive turn of foot.
As a stallion
Practicante earned the Pellegrini Award as Argentina’s “Stallion of the Year:” in 1982. According to Jockey Club records, he sired 59 winners (17.2%) and 34 stakes winners (9.9%) from 344 named foals; however, his records of starters and winners from Argentina are probably incomplete.
