A deerlike filly who was held to closely resemble her dam Spar Maid but was even more talented, Quillo Queen improved steadily during the 1967 racing season and was at her best over a distance of ground. Unfortunately, a knee injury robbed her of a chance at a championship. As a broodmare, she was a Grade 1 producer but had little lasting influence.

Assessments
Rated at 113 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap for American juvenile fillies of 1966, 3 pounds below divisional champion Regal Gleam.
Quillo Queen shared the highweight of 124 pounds on the Daily Racing Form's Free Handicap for American 3-year-old fillies of 1967 with the official co-champions of the division, Furl Sail and Gamely.
As an individual
A bay mare standing about 15.3 hands, Quillo Queen was elegant and lightly built with the flat muscling of a stayer though she had good power in her hindquarters and gaskins. Her legs were perhaps light on bone but were clean. Her shoulder was long and correctly angled and she had a long, low stride. Her hooves were shelly and difficult to maintain. She suffered a knee injury in August 1967 and was unable to return to stakes form at 4. Her disposition was pleasant.
As a producer
Quillo Queen produced 10 named foals, of which seven started and four won. Her important foals are as follow:
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Quillo Queen was bred by E. V. Benjamin Jr., E. V. Benjamin III, S. B. Serio and R. K. Punches. A US$92,000 yearling purchase, she was owned by Martin Andersen and was trained by James E. Picou. After breeding her first two foals, Andersen sold her to Hilary Boone, J. B. Faulconer and W. W. Lockridge, et al. They in turn sold her to John R. Gaines and Nelson Bunker Hunt. Following the birth of Au Point in 1980, Quillo Queen passed to the hands of E. Allen Cowen II, who bred her last three foals. Quillo Queen died in 1986.
Pedigree notes
Quillo Queen is outcrossed through five generations. She is a half sister to Mittie Maid (by Spy Song), dam of stakes winners Tony's Game (by Sensitivo) and Hollywood Hustle (by Vertex).

She is a half sister to 1963 Kentucky Oaks winner Sally Ship (by Turn-to), second dam of 1986 American champion 3-year-old filly Tiffany Lass and 1979 Swaps Stakes (USA-G1) winner Valdez. She is also a half sister to 1960 Knickerbocker Handicap winner Quiz Star (by Dark Star), 1966 Nassau County Stakes winner Pluck (by Double Jay), and multiple stakes winner Good Fight (by Armageddon). A daughter of Nasrullah, Nut Brown Maid is also a half sister to Chnoupi (by Le Lavandou), second dam of two-time Belgian champion Jacta Est.
