Scotch Verdict’s pedigree was not fashionable and had a weak tail-female line, but it contained some tough performers and much of the best American breeding of the early twentieth century. She was never able to prove the worth of her genetic background on the racetrack, but she founded a family that consistently punched above its weight when bred to less than fashionable sires and climbed into the bloodlines of elite performers.
