Fun facts
- William Farish had a special guest with him for Secret Service’s victory in the Kentucky Oaks: George Bush, the former President of the United States. During the winner’s circle celebrations, someone asked Bush if he had bet on the filly. He had, placing a US$50 win bet and cashing in for US$295. It was, he revealed, his first-ever bet on a horse race.
- Pat Day was lucky to have the mount on Secret Status for the Oaks, as he had been slated to ride Surfside, who was withdrawn due to injury. The filly was his second Kentucky Oaks winner, following Goodbye Halo in 1988.
