Shedaresthedevil was dismissed at 15-1 odds in the 2020 Longines Kentucky Oaks (USA-G1), but the race’s delay until September (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) gave her time to mature and catch up with quicker-developing rivals. She responded by running the best race of her career and standing off future Preakness Stakes (USA-G1) winner Swiss Skydiver by a length and a half. She won two more Grade 1 races at 4 and was a graded stakes winner again at 5 before retiring to the paddocks.

Assessments
Rated at 115 pounds in the Mile category on the 2021 Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings, 14 pounds below overall highweight Knicks Go (the American Horse of the Year) and 5 pounds below Monomoy Girl, the top filly or mare on dirt.
As an individual
A bay mare, Shedaresthedevil had good tactical speed and was determined in a drive. She had a distinct liking for the Churchill Downs track, going six-for-seven under the Twin Spires and finishing second by half a length in her only losing start there, the 2022 La Troienne Stakes.
As a producer
Shedaresthedevil has produced a 2024 filly by Gun Runner and a 2025 filly by Into Mischief.
Connections
Foaled In Kentucky, Shedaresthedevil was bred by WinStar Farm. A US$100,000 weanling at the 2017 Keeneland November mixed sale, she initially raced for Glencrest Farm and was trained by Mark Casse; she was transferred to Simon Callaghan after her maiden win. She sold for US$280,000 at the 2019 Keeneland November mixed sale. Following that sale, she was owned by Staton Flurry's Flurry Racing Stables, Qatar Racing, and Autry Lowry's Big Aut Farms and was trained by Brad Cox. She won the Kentucky Oaks under Florent Gereux, her regular pilot. In November 2021, she was sent to the Keeneland November mixed sale, where she sold for US$5 million to Whisper Hill Farm, Qatar Racing, and Flurry Racing Stables. In 2022, Shedaresthedevil was sold through Fasig-Tipton’s November “Night of the Stars” sale to dissolve the partnership, again selling for US$5 million. She is now a broodmare for Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Farm.
Pedigree notes
Sired by 2014 Champagne Stakes (USA-G1) winner Daredevil (by More Than Ready), Shedaresthedevil is inbred 5x4x4 to two-time American champion sire Mr. Prospector and 5x5x5 to the great international sire Northern Dancer. She is out of the winner Starship Warpspeed, whose sire Congrats (by A.P. Indy) won the 1995 San Pasqual Handicap (USA-G2) and was a useful sire. Starship Warpspeed’s full sister Applauding is the dam of listed stakes winner Laughing Boy (by Distorted Humor).
Starship Warpspeed is out of the unraced Forestry mare Andria’s Forest, a half sister to 2001 San Rafael Stakes (USA-G2) winner Crafty C. T. (by Crafty Prospector) and restricted stakes winner Carmen’s Baby (by Iam the Iceman). Andria’s Forest, in turn, is out of the winner Andriana B., whose sire Far North is a Group 3-winning full brother to The Minstrel.
The next dam in Shedaresthedevil’s tail-female line, Sign Language (by Silent Screen), is a full sister to 1979 Ak-Sar-Ben Omaha Gold Cup Handicap (USA-G2) winner Screen King and a half sister to Indian Tigress (by Terrible Tiger), dam of stakes winner Tiger Star (by Star de Naskra). Produced from the Nashua mare Indian Queen (a half sister to 1967 Sheepshead Bay Handicap winner Indian Sunlite, by Summer Tan, and juvenile stakes winner Come Hither Look, by Turn-to), Sign Language is also a half sister to Indian Counselor (by Advocator), dam of restricted stakes winners Yet the Best (by Best of Both) and Khajani (by Fred Astaire).
