Relaunch (USA) x Slew Princess (USA), by Seattle Slew (USA)
Family 13-c
Slew Gin Fizz had some ability but was well below the talent level of the best members of the 1991 American foal crop, which included Holy Bull, Dehere, Tabasco Cat, Brocco, and Concern. As a stallion, the handsome gray had a very hit-or-miss career but did sire Argentine champions Latency and Cafetin and was also the broodmare sire of Eclipse Award winner Musical Romance.

Assessments
Rated at 115 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap for American 2-year-old males of 1993, 11 pounds below co-highweights Dehere (the official divisional champion) and Brocco.
Rated at 104 pounds on the Daily Racing Form's Free Handicap for American male sprinters of 1994, 18 pounds below champion sprinter Cherokee Run (a 4-year-old).
As an individual
A short-backed gray horse, Slew Gin Fizz had a good shoulder, a strong body, and powerful hindquarters but was back at the knee. As a stallion, he spent almost all his time out in his paddock—even at night—as he was an active sort of horse who disliked being brought back to the barn for any reason but breeding. As a result, he maintained a hard-muscled appearance well after most stallions have become a bit softer with age.
As a stallion
According to records compiled by The Jockey Club, Slew Gin Fizz sired 546 winners (44.2%) and 32 stakes winners (2.6%) from 1235 named foals of racing age.

Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Slew Gin Fizz was bred by Lynn Brown and Lion's Farm. A US$95,000 yearling purchase for Marylou Whitney from the 1992 Fasig-Tipton New York yearling sale, he raced for Whitney’s Blue Goose Stable and Hudson River Farms. He was trained by Thomas J. Kelly. He entered stud in Argentina at Luis Edmundo Villamil’s Haras Rodeo Chico in 1995 and stood the 1996-1998 Southern Hemisphere seasons in Chile, returning to Argentina in 1999. In 2001-2005, he shuttled to Ocala Stud in Florida for the Northern Hemisphere season and remained permanently in Argentina following the 2005 Southern Hemisphere season. He died of old age on April 19, 2017.

Chief Bearhart later added to his dam's reputation by winning six more championship titles including Canadian Horse of the Year honors in 1997 and 1998 and an Eclipse Award as the American champion turf male of 1997. Amelia Bearhart is also the second dam of multiple Canadian Grade 2 winner Strut the Stage and multiple English Group 3 winner Sacred Song. - Slew Gin Fizz’s name is a play on “Sloe Gin Fizz,” a mixed drink made of sloe gin (a gin-based liqueur infused with sloe berries), club soda, citrus, and simple syrup.
