Souvenir (ARG)

1881 – ?

Blair Adam (GB) x Remembrance (ARG), by Unknown

Unknown

Souvenir reflected the early days of Argentine racing, when many of the runners were sired by imported English or French Thoroughbred stallions on mares whose ancestry remains obscure. His name survives only as the winner of the first Gran Premio Nacional (Argentine Derby), as he made no mark at stud.

Race record:

Unknown

1884:
  • Won Gran Premio Nacional (Argentine Derby) (ARG, 2500m, Palermo)

As an individual

Nothing is known of Souvenir as an individual, not even his color.

Connections

Souvenir was bred by Haras Las Rosas and raced in the colors of Caballeriza Buenos Aires. He was trained by Manuel
Velázquez.

Pedigree notes

Sired by Blair Adam, a son of the great racer Blair Athol who was imported to Argentina by Guillermo Kemmis (owner of Haras Las Rosas) in 1877, Souvenir was produced from Remembrance, a mare who was reportedly three-quarters Thoroughbred. Nothing further is known of his ancestry.
