A first-rate miler, Spinning World was an Irish Classic winner, a Breeders’ Cup winner, and a highweight in both France and Ireland in that distance category. Unfortunately, he was not able to pass on his own racing qualities with any consistency during a globe-trotting stud career.
Race record

Assessments
Highweighted among Irish 3-year-olds of 1996 over 7 to 9.5 furlongs.
Highweighted among French older males of 1997 over 7 to 9.5 furlongs.
As an individual
A long-bodied chestnut horse, Spinning World had an excellent shoulder and powerful hindquarters but was perhaps a bit light-boned and tied-in below the knee. He had a nasty disposition as a stallion and usually wore a muzzle when brought out.
As a stallion
According to records compiled by The Jockey Club, Spinning World sired 614 winners (52.1%) and 43 stakes winners (3.6%) from 1179 named foals of racing age. He had lower than normal fertility.
Notable progeny
Ancient World (USA), Arlingtonboulevard (NZ), Heavenly Glow (AUS), Lyrical Bid (AUS), Special Harmony (AUS), Spin Around (AUS), Spinning Queen (GB), Thorn Park (AUS)
Connections
Bred in Kentucky by the Niarchos family's Flaxman Holdings, Spinning World was owned by Stavros Niarchos and was trained by Jonathan Pease. He was ridden to his Breeders’ Cup Mile win by Cash Asmussen. He stood at Coolmore Stud's operations in Kentucky, Ireland, Australian, and New Zealand as well as in Japan. His last registered foals were born in Australia in 2014, the year he was officially pensioned.
