Known as “Baby Z” because of the similarity of her come-from-behind racing stayle to that of the great mare Zenyatta, Stardom Bound draw plenty of attention not only for her dramatic come-from-behind charges but for her striking light gray coat. She trained on into the spring of her 3-year-old season to add two more Grade 1 events to her record, but after that began experiencing physical issues and did not win again. She was exported to Japan following her racing career.

Eclipse Award, American champion 2-year-old female (2008)
Assessments
Highweighted at 124 pounds atop the Experimental Free Handicap for American juvenile fillies of 2008.
As an individual
A gray who went white early, Stardom Bound typically broke poorly from the gate but showed a brilliant turn of foot during the late going of a race.
As a producer
As of December 24, 2024, Stardom Bound has produced six named foals of racing age; all six have started and four have won, but none have earned black type.
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Stardom Bound was bred by Fletcher Gray, Carolyn Gray, and John Youngblood, who sold her for US$50,000 through the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale. After selling for US$375,000 through the 2008 Ocala Breeders' Sales March sale of 2-year-olds in training, Stardom Bound was owned by Charles Cono and was trained by Christopher S. Paasch. She was ridden to her Breeders’ Cup triumph by Mike Smith.
In November 2008, Stardom Bound was sent to the Fasig-Tipton November "Night of the Stars" and was sold for $5.7 million to IEAH Stables; after that, she was trained by Robert "Bobby" Frankel and later by Richard Dutrow Jr. In March 2009, David Lanzam, owner of the highly promising 3-year-old colt I Want Revenge, acquired a quarter-interest in the filly as part of a deal in which IEAH Stable acquired a 50 percent interest in his colt. By the end of Stardom Bound’s career, Lanzam had dropped out of her ownership and Paul Pompa Jr., Michael Dubb, and Gary Tolchin had acquired interests. Stardom Bound was officially retired from racing on April 16, 2010. In November 2010, the filly, then in foal to Big Brown, was sold to Katsumi Yoshida's Northern Farm for an undisclosed sum and was exported to Japan.
