The last foal of 1935 American champion handicap mare Late Date, Stolen Hour was useful but no more than that as a race mare, placing in three stakes events on the Mid-Atlantic circuit. She was far more important as a broodmare, producing 1982 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Best in Show and becoming the ancestress of champions in Brazil, England, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, and the United States.

She is a full sister to 1955 Oakland Handicap winner Beau Busher and a half sister to 1945 Arlington Matron Handicap winner War Date (by War Admiral). Stolen Hour is also a half sister to Elope (by Heliopolis), dam of juvenile stakes winner Sheila's Star (by Dark Star); to Frolic (by Whirlaway), dam of juvenile stakes winners Joyously (by Johns Joy) and Sailor Frolic (by Cap Size); and to Latent (by Thundering), second dam of 1969 New Orleans Handicap winner Miracle Hill.

The next dam in Stolen Hour’s tail-female line, Torpenhow (by the good stayer Torpoint), was imported into the United States in 1915 by Wickliffe Stud, later becoming the property of Elizabeth Daingerfield.
