Second only to Susan's Girl among the fillies of of an above-average crop and probably the best stayer of the group, Summer Guest was a versatile runner who won on both dirt and turf and against both males and females. While she did not produce any stakes winners, several of her daughters became good broodmares.

Foaled in Virginia, Summer Guest was bred by Hubert B. Phipps, who sold her for $12,500 when she was a weanling. Resold for $40,000 through the 1970 Keeneland July yearling sale, she was owned by Paul Mellon's Rokeby Stable. She was trained by Elliott Burch. She died in 1988.
