The best of four stakes winners produced by the remarkable Argentine broodmare Filipina, Telescópico was the 10th colt to complete the Argentine Quadruple Crown, a series requiring 3-year-olds to sweep the Argentine Classics against their own division plus the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini against the best of the older runners. While Argentine foal crops are not so large as those in the United States, the difficulty of the feat is compounded by the variation in distances from 1600 meters (about 1 mile) to 2500 meters (about 12.5 furlongs) and the need to show top-class form on both dirt and turf. Telescópico was unable to show quite the same form when sent to Europe to compete as a 4-year-old but added one more Argentine Group stakes triumph on his return home before entering stud.

Honors
As an individual
A robust, handsome bay horse; no other information available.
As a stallion
Telescópico stood at Agro Pecuária Inshalla in Brazil, where he was not particularly successful in a relatively short career. His last foals were born in 1988. According to records maintained by The Jockey Club, Telescópico sired 16 winners and seven stakes winners from 111 named foals of racing age, but it should be noted that records for South American stallions of this period were often incomplete.
Notable progeny
Garden of Love (BRZ), Griffe de Paris (BRZ)
Connections
Telescópico was bred by Haras Don Yeye (Cesar Omar Pasarillo and Hugo A. Pasarillo) and raced for Caballeriza Don Yeye. Trained by Juan Esteban Bianchi, he was ridden to his sweep of the Argentine Quadruple Crown by Marina Lezcano.
Pedigree notes
Telescópico is outcrossed through five generations. He is a full brother to 1974 Polla de Potrillos (Argentine Two Thousand Guineas, ARG-G1) winner Telefónico and to 1976 Argentine champion 2-year-old filly Taba, dam of 1986 American champion older male Turkoman (by Alydar), listed stakes winner Slow Fuse (by Fluorescent Light) and stakes producers Now Go (by Exclusive Native) and Thunder Maid (by Alydar). He is also a full brother to Titania, dam of multiple Argentine Group 1 winner Cerbatana (by Cipayo), and to Telescópica, dam of multiple listed stakes winner Ms. Aerosmith (by Skywalker) and Japanese stakes winner Eishin Vincennes (by Relaunch) and second dam of 1998 Gran Premio Provincia de Buenos Aires (ARG-G1) Tifosi, Argentine Group 3 winner Miradita Toss and Grade 3 winner Illiquidity. In addition, Telescópico is a half brother to Peruvian stakes winner Flower Girl (by Lacydon).
Filipina (by 1957 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini winner Fomento), the dam of Telescópico, won two races from 11 starts in Argentina. She is out of Rosa Roja, a daughter of 1930 Eclipse Stakes winner Rustom Pasha and the Fox Cub mare Reseda.

Fun facts
- Telescópico was ridden to his Quadruple Crown triumphs by Marina Lezcano, making her the first female jockey to accomplish the sweep.
- Three American Triple Crown winners have completed sweeps comparable to the Argentine Quadruple Crown. Both Gallant Fox and Citation added the Jockey Club Gold Cup (America's top test for older horses until the advent of the Breeders' Cup Classic) to their Triple Crown victories in 1930 and 1948, and American Pharoah won the Triple Crown plus the Breeders' Cup Classic (USA-G1), which had replaced the Jockey Club Gold Cup as the top season-ending test for open company, in 2015.
